​Beth Showalter finds inspiration in colour, textiles, fibres, people and history.  She graduated from UWO with Bachelor degrees in both Fine Arts, Studio Honours and Education.   Professionally, she has taught Visual Arts at the secondary school level since 2000.  Beth completed the Ontario Handweavers and Spinners (OHS) Spinning Certificate Program in 2014 with Distinction. 

As a spinner, she is fascinated with the effects of colour, texture and twist in yarn design.  As a maker, she designs textile items that showcase her handspun yarns.  As a teacher, she strives to develop and deliver spinning-based workshops that inspire participants to build upon their existing skills and try new approaches to expand their own practice. 

Beth is an enthusiastic and curious spinner who enjoys experimenting, sharing ideas and learning new techniques.  Her goal is to reconnect people with our textile history and reclaim the importance, joy and fulfilment of making in our complex world.
