Hi folks, to follow up on our lesson - when you are drawing people (or anything, for that matter) it is so important to look for the individual details that are personal and unique. This lesson will help you to see generally where features are located, but actively looking to see how the person/object fits in - bigger or smaller, longer or shorter, deeper or shallower, etcetera...

AWM 4M: self portraits using a palette of earth tones + white + rubine red. Great process so far... Starting with an undercoat, moving to a light chalk drawing to anchor the face (use of mirrors and extreme light/shadow), blocking in the high lights and shadows, and using this as a map to apply future layers of colour. Students presented paintings in a mini critique. They were then placed in small groups to give each other suggestions, tips and feedback. Three days of this process. Paintings are due on Tuesday March 7th with a typed evaluation/reflection. Points of evaluation are on the class site. |
